Local Area - Chidham Walk
We are lucky to be located in a stunning part of West Sussex on a peninsular that leads down to Chichester Harbour and its bustling maritime activity. With a plethora of sailing clubs and Cobnor Activity Centre nearby, there is plenty to do on the water. As well as the waterside activities, we are also surrounded by rolling fields that offer a network of public footpaths for walkers to explore before calling in for a refreshing pint or Sunday lunch.
Throughout the year we host various events for our guests to enjoy and in the summer months we enjoy open air film showings in the field adjacent to us which are organised by The Chidham and Hambrook Film Society.

CHIDHAM, COBNOR POINT AND COBNOR MARSHES (West Sussex)
Route: Set out from the cosy and cheerful Old House at Home pub in the straggling village of Chidham.
A nicely kept grass path dodges through the fields past Chidmere Pond to the eastern shore of Chidham Penisula. Here, the pretty waterside village of Bosham is seen clustered round it's stumpy little church spire on the far side of Bosham channel. Way finding is simple - just turn right (south), and follow the shore path for 2 and a half miles.
The wide mudflats of Cobnor and Nutbourne Marshes on the South and west of the peninsula make a sensational winter feeding ground for thousands of wildfowl, and if you time your walk for a rising tide towards sunset, you'll have a great chance of seeing big crowds of dark-bellied brent geese, shelducks and wading birds as the incoming sea pushes them towards the shore.
Down on the tip of the peninsula, a line of ancient oaks, contorted and blasted by salt winds and waves, clings to the bank. Past these, you walk north, following a recently built flood bank a little inland - this low-lying coast is always under threat of inundation by the sea. Gaze your last at the seabirds, then make inland through the fields for the Old House at Home.
